Tamara de Lempicka (May 16, 1898–March 18, 1980)

Łempicka perhaps epitomized the Art Deco movement with her strong use of geometric elements, vivid colors and semi-classical subjects. Also, you can realize a lot about her aesthetic approach, if you keep in mind her disgust at the vast body of Impressionism and her love of Picasso. And hopefully her works have helped dispel the pernicious myth that women cannot be just as great painters as men.
