Franz von Stuck (February 24, 1863 - August 30, 1928)

It seems to me that the Symbolists are an often ignored group; I can't understand why this is. To me, there are few styles as explorative as Symbolism. Color, composition, mythos, sexuality: everything so vividly and expertly placed on a canvass: a passionate synthesis. Von Stuck is one of the greatest Symbolists. A man who was wildly lauded during his lifetime. And who also found time to teach a great number of incredible artists, such as Kandinsky. I find his works capture motion and emotion to an incredibly grand degree.
